PRESENTATION: Telmisartan 40mg+Amlodipine 5mg Tablets

MECHANISM OF ACTION: Telmisartan is a non-peptide AT1 angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It exerts antihypertensive activity by preventing angiotensin II from binding to AT1 receptors thus inhibiting the vasoconstricting and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II.  Amlodipine belongs to the group of drugs called dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.Amlodipine has selectivity for the peripheral blood vessels, with a lower incidence of myocardial depression and cardiac conduction abnormalities than other calcium channel blockers.Amlodipine has antioxidant properties and an ability to enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO), an important vasodilator that decreases blood pressure.
