PRESENTATION: Glimepiride 1 mg +Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg + Voglibose 0.2 mg ; Glimepiride 2 mg +Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg + Voglibose 0.2 mg ;
DRUG CLASS: Sulfonylurea (Glimepiride) Biguanide (Metformin) Alpha glucosidase inhibitors (Voglibose)
MECHANISM OF ACTION: Glimepiridestimulates insulin release from the pancreatic beta cells; reduces glucose output from the liver; insulin sensitivity is increased at peripheral target sites.
Metformin decreases
hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose and
improves insulin sensitivity (increases peripheral glucose uptake and
utilization)
Alpha glucosidase inhibitors delay glucose
absorption at the intestinal level and thereby prevent sudden surge of glucose
after a meal.
INDICATIONS: Postprandial blood glucose in patients with type II diabetes.
DOSAGE: As Directed by the Physician
